Prevent AI sites from scraping the site for artwork.
Can we make Post a safe place for artists by preventing AI platforms from scraping art from your site?
Please make Post could a place where artists can safely share their work.95 votes -
Ability to easily browse which media/publications are available
I'd love to be able to go to a page in Post that lists all the various newspapers, magazines, and other media that are available and select those to follow so that I don't have to already know who I want to follow and go search for them in the search bar. Bonus points for grouping and displaying them in a way that makes them easy to find by type, or topic. I'd also love to somehow be able to connect my subscriptions directly through Post so that I can easily read all the ones for which I already have…

Active Campaign to get local news on the Platform!
Yes the big publishers are important, but Local News is essential, and they don't always have the infrastructure, staff and knowhow to get up and running on sites like this. They are a great opportunity for click-to-pay, and should be supported as much as possible.

Allow flagging of uncredited content
Not sure exactly how this should work, but a system to allow "borrowed" content (especially images) to be flagged if they don't have appropriate accreditation.
And/or a system where by content can be flagged as belonging to the originator.

Keep 'Likes' Anonymous
If 'Likes' are anonymous, many people will show support of posts they might not normally support for fear of social or partisan consequences. And many 'Likes' of a post are performative in support of the author and not the post. Keeping 'Likes' anonymous provides the author a truer measure of how people really feel about the post.

New to Post, thank you for that. I know Post is not Twitter and not seeking to be Twitter, but there are two features that could help
First feature: Lists. I follow a lot of people and organizations on social media and the ability to add people to a list would of great help. Second feature: Columns. Tweetdeck and Mastodon has a Column feature where lists, or people could be added as a column and you could look at all of the people you are following in a horizonal and vertical way.

View article word count before purchase
I've purchased access to a few articles that turned out to only be a few lines long, which is horribly disappointing when you click expecting in-depth reporting. It'd be great if we could see a word count before purchasing access to control expectations.

Content rejection needs to have a way to contest the decision.
When user content is rejected, user should be able to contest the decision in an easy-to-use manner.

Enable multimedia uploads (video, audio, podcasts)
Enable multimedia uploads (like videos, audio, podcasts, etc.) or some integrated media content provider to create a seamless experience when viewing and listening to more than static content...

More global content
For understandable reasons, Post has a very US-centric feel to it.
Twitter is the global marketplace where media, analysts & commentators meet, including for specialised areas of geographical & subject interest.
Once the base of Post is stabilised I’d like to see a specific global marketing effort, alongside the US focus, starting with reaching out to media organisations across the globe. This might have to begin with English language media but should specifically encompass Asia & Asia Pacific, not just US & Europe.

Can we recruit Scientific Journals/Magazines to Post?
i.e. Nature, JAMA, JSTOR, Scientific American, SAGE, etc.
Specifically regarding scientific journals, charging Points to view specific articles would be a huge benefit to Posties who aren't interested in paying for monthly/annual subscriptions.19 votes -
Feed Filters
It would be useful to be able to set up (and save!) filters so that I could view a feed of only people I Follow, or who Follow me — and then switch over to specific topic feeds (e.g. aggregating all science/technology in one stream). This would be even simpler and cleaner than the Tweetdeck multi-column approach.

Content of Post show up in external links...
Like many sites these days (especially news sites, and that other site we don't mention), when you post a link on an external site, the content of the Post should show in that link preview. So, if I post a Post url to twitter, or on a website, or in a comment, or wherever, you can see what the original Post says, or see the image, or whatever.
Currently it just looks like the attached file:

More choices than just "like"
Like can mean agree with, or it can mean acknowledgement of idea, but allowing a variety of opinions on a post can be helpful. Similar to Facebook choices, which has 7 (maybe fewer are required).

History Dashboard for Paywalled Content
I see we can click thru to articles we've purchased from the Payments Dashboard, but that's a bit clunky.
For the future, would be great to be able to see a history or log of my purchased articles, similar to the Payments Dashboard now. Ideally, it would have more bells and whistles for searching thru it over time, but even a basic history with links to each post would be helpful in the shorter term.
Thanks!

Share button for external websites
This might be the incorrect spot to suggest this, but I was wondering if a 'share' button for places like wordpress for Post is in the works for when we are out of Beta. I think that would be a fabulous way to share the wonderful content and mission here.

Feedback for Reuters - needs sections
Not sure how to pass this on to Reuters - so posting here.
Reuters should be thanked and congratulated for engaging with Post at such an early stage.
But my feed is overwhelmed with stories and I need the ability to opt into sections I want to see, and opt out of others. Local News, World, Business, Sport, etc
More granular control needed, and will also be needed when more publishers come on board.

Bundled subscriptions
What #post.news needs: #Netflix for news websites. I don't want to pay for a subscription of #NYT and a subscription of #WSJ and 20 other publications. But I can consider paying for a subscription bundle that lets me read all of them.
News publications need to understand that we are not in the age of having a single newspaper delivered to our homes anymore. Scroll tried to do something similar but never got any big name publications to sign up. #Twitter acquired Scroll and essentially killed that product. We need to bring that back.

Alt text for images is essential
Not everyone can see images. Folks with visual or other limitations should be able to get a text interpretation of an image. This is standard and required on many sites. This is different from image metadata suggested by others. Alt txt is standard HTML but I don’t see a place to put it here. Alt txt can also be used to record copyright for an image.

Expanded Explore Tab - Trending, and Top Tags, plus Post Tags
I definitely use the Explore Tab a lot and I love how free flowing it is. And yet, I notice I only go down several pages and it is only 5 minutes old at most. Where it has been a few hours since I last scrolled, it is obvious I am missing a ton.
I'd love a 3rd tab that revolves around trending and tagging. First would be what is trending in the last hour or two - what are people talking about.
Next would be great to have filters with typical topics like politics, news, puppies, sports, etc.
I'd…
